Marvin Harris

Marvin O. “Gig” Harris, age 64 years, a resident of Vienna, passed away Wednesday evening, August 11, 2021, at 11:40 PM at his home. Marvin was born October 26, 1956 in Kankakee, Illinois. He was the son of Marvin and Jacquline (Erzinger) Harris. Marvin was united in marriage to Carolyn (Lange) Franklin. They have been together as a couple since 1979. She survives. In addition to his wife, Marvin is survived by: his daughters – Michelle Coryell of Vienna and Crystal (Chris) Oduola of Anna; his sons – Jimmy Coryell of Limestone and Thomas (Rena) Harris of Donovan; grandchildren – Jennifer Williams of Tennessee, Jacquline Harris, Kadence and Khierstin Oduola all of Anna, Tyler Harris of Donovan; Alisa Brave of Mississippi, and Chyann Rye of Texas; great grandchildren – Hayden and Nevaeh Harris of Donovan; Jerrett, Kenleigh, & Mylo Williams of Tennessee; sisters – Lula (James) Bessette of Vienna and Teresa (Raymond) Pearl of Cobden; brothers – Aaron (Daniella) Harris of Bradley, Alan Raburn and Dennis (Kay) Harris all of Vienna, and Scott Harris of Anna; as well as other relatives and a host of great friends that think the world of him. In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his stepmother – Juanita Harris as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. Marvin worked as a truck driver for 48 years. He was passionate about his work and is remembered for his strong work ethic. Marvin was a wonderful and dedicated husband and fathers. He cherished time spent with his family, particularly his grandchildren. A Celebration of the Life of Marvin Harris will be conducted Saturday afternoon, August 28, 2021, at 4 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 PM – 4 PM Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the funeral home. Following the celebration of Life, family and friends are invited to gather for a meal and fellowship at The Harvest Church, 602 E. Davie Street, Anna, Illinois.
