Mark Reeder

Mark Reeder, age 66, a resident of rural Galatia, Illinois, was called home by Jesus on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. Mark was born on June 21, 1957, to Paul & Bonnie (Pennington) Reeder. He married the love of his life, Rebecca (Becky) Zdankiewicz on June 3, 1983 in Marion, and they were married for 40 years. Together, they have one son, Caleb Reeder. Mark loved his guns and knives, and had a wealth of knowledge about both, as well as many other things. Mark was a proud member of the National Rifle Association (N.R.A.) as well as the Egyptian Rifle and Pistol Club. Mark was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and loved talking football with his son and daughter in law. Most importantly, Mark loved Jesus. He wanted nothing more than for everyone he knew to give their heart to Jesus, and go to heaven. He was always a witness, and made it known by his actions and words that he was a Christian. He and Becky are members of Little Chapel Church in Harrisburg, IL. He was also a member of the Little Egypt Walk to Emmaus community. Mark loved his family fiercely. He loved playing with his grandkids, and bringing them 3 Musketeers and M&Ms when he saw them. Mark was a 1975 graduate of Galatia High School. He also had attended Southeastern Illinois College near Harrisburg. Mark had been employed by Aisin, Inc. as a fork lift operator since June 2, 2003. Previously, Mark worked at Marion 100, a paper, stencil and ink manufacturing plant in Marion, Illinois. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar (Paul) & Bonnie Reeder, and sister Theresa Lynn “Terry” Fritz. He is survived by his wife, Becky, son, Caleb, his “favorite daughter-in-law”, Lauren, three grandkids, Alyssa, Emelia, Isaiah, and one brother, Cliff Reeder. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends, who are more like family, and he loved them all. A Service honoring the life of Mark Reeder will be conducted Saturday afternoon, September 2, 2023, at 2 PM at Grange Hall Free Will Baptist Church, 9950 Grassy Road, Marion, Illinois 62959. Pastor T.W. Norman will officiate. The service will be A.S.L. interpreted for the deaf. Visitation will be conducted Friday, September 1, 2023, from 4 PM – 7 PM at Grange Hall Free Will Baptist Church. Additionally, there will be a time of visitation Saturday afternoon, September 2, 2023, from 1 PM until the service time at 2 PM also at the church.
