Marilyn Whiteside

Marilyn (Rainbolt) Whiteside Age: 81 years A resident of Vienna, IL. Passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 12, 2009, at 4:17 PM at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. Marilyn was born June 24, 1927 in Creal Springs, Illinois. She was the daughter of Lester Rainbolt and Opal (Brown) Rainbolt. Marilyn was united in marriage to Louis E. Whiteside on January 22, 1944 in Johnson County Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 15, 1991. Survivors include: Her Children: Jim & Pauline Whiteside of Cookeville, TN, Gary & Alice Whiteside of Marion, Arkansas, Tom & Tammy Whiteside of Olive Branch, IL, Terry & Peggy Whiteside of Buncombe, IL, Mary Ellen & Sam Schlamer of Thebes, IL and Nina Weston of Paducah, KY; 13 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren; a Sister - Janet Love of Joliet, IL; Several Nieces & Nephews. In addition to her parents & husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by: a Son - Robert Louis "Bobby" Whiteside; a Son-in-Law - Gary Weston; 2 Brothers - Reggie Rainbolt and Ronnie Rainbolt; 2 Sisters - Margaret Berry and Lorraine LeBeau. Marilyn attended Vienna High School. She served as homecoming queen during her sophomore year. Marilyn was a telephone operator during World War II. She was a lifelong homemaker. Marilyn has served as secretary for the Smiles Senior Citizens organization in Pulaski County for several years. Additionally, she was a former member of the Pulaski County Republican Women's Club and former chairwoman for the Pulaski County American Cancer Society. Marilyn was a member of Gilead Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Simpson, IL. She was also a member of Egyptian Chapter # 30 Order of the Eastern Star in Vienna and a member of the Bloomfield Gals and Pals Red Hats. Marilyn loved life and was a dear friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed bowling and had participated on a senior bowling league. Marilyn also loved music, played the cello, and was an accomplished ballroom dancer. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 15, 2009, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Bud McDannel will officiate. Burial will be in the Whiteside Cemetery near Bloomfield.
