Marie F. McBride

Marie F. McBride, age 68 years, a resident of rural Simpson, passed away Friday morning, April 22, 2016, at 4:33 AM at her home with her husband of 51 years at her side. She was known as “Aunt MeMe” to all her family. Marie was born May 27, 1947 at the Union County Hospital in Anna, Illinois. She was the eldest of 8 children born to Creston Leroy Musgraves and Elsie Lois (Buffington) Musgraves. The family, including her grandparents, lived in a tent on a creek south of Ware, Illinois. Marie was united in marriage to Ronald L. McBride, Sr., on February 7, 1965 at the home of Rev. Arthur Dunn. In addition to her husband, Marie is survived by: her best friend and mother-in-law – Mary McBride of Simpson; 3 brothers – Cyrus Musgraves of Grand Chain, Robert Musgraves of Murphysboro, and Creston Leroy (his wife, Linda) Musgraves, Jr. of Paducah, Kentucky; 3 sisters – Karen Musgraves Sickling of Louisville, Kentucky, Marion Jewell Musgraves of Murphysboro, and Christina (her husband, Kenny) Merhle of Washington County Missouri; 3 sons – Richard Scott McBride of Lincoln, Christopher Paul (his wife, Nina) McBride of Vienna, and Shawn Andrew McBride of Oahu, Hawaii; a daughter – Ronda Marie (her husband, Edward) Malkowski of Lincoln; 5 grandsons – Chris and Shawn McBride, who were adopted by Ron and Marie in 1987 and who always referred to her as “Mom,” Jordan Scott McBride, Quinton McBride, and William Duckett; a granddaughter – Chelsea Duckett Chrisman; 3 step grandchildren – Veronica Bousquet, Thomas F. Malkowski, and Edward “Joe” Malkowski; 13 great grandchildren – twins Krista & Liberty McBride, Anthony Colton Duckett, Andrew K. McBride, Raylen Duckett, Danielle Marie Chrisman, Aria McBride, Aubrey Hope Miracle, Alivia Ming, Dawson Ming, Sidney Mallory, Kylie Mallory, & Cadence Duckett; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives (including her McBride in-laws) and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her eldest son, Ronald Lee McBride, Jr., a sister – Sandra Kay Musgraves, and her father-in-law – Walter McBride. Marie was a graduate of Shawnee High School. She was an Emergency Medical Technician and the first certified paramedic in Johnson County. Marie also had taught C.P.R. training at Shawnee Community College. Marie was a member of the Ballowe Church. She enjoyed knitting, making crocheted handcrafted items, and spending time on her computer. She and Ron enjoyed living in the country. A graveside service will be conducted at a later date at the Bridges Cemetery, southwest of Vienna. Memorials are suggested to the family to assist with expenses and may be left in the care of Bailey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 695, Vienna, IL 62995.
