Lloyd Junior Craig

Lloyd Junior Craig, 94, of Goreville, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 9:05 pm at Deaconess Healthcare of Marion. Lloyd was born September 28, 1931 at the family farm near Goreville, Illinois. He was the son of Leander Dow Craig and Edith (Sullivan) Craig. He married Rosie (Peterman) Craig on January 28, 1950 in Herrin, they were blessed to share over 75 years of marriage. Rosie preceded him in death on October 16, 2025. Lloyd was a member of the Pentecostals of Lick Creek, where he had been a longtime member of the church board. Prior to his retirement, Lloyd was employed as a truck driver by Stone Container Co. In his spare time, Lloyd enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening. He was also an accomplished musician and often played his Ovation guitar at church services. Lloyd served as a volunteer at the former Heartland Regional Medical Center for over 17 years. Lloyd is survived by: his son – Leonard Craig of Goreville, a daughter – Karen (Albert) Suguitan of Edwardsville; grandchildren; Monty (Sarah) Craig of Valier, Chad Craig of Goreville, Jonathan Suguitan of Prescott, Arizona and Jessica Przygoda of Edwardsville; great grandchildren – Connor Craig, LilyAnn Craig of Herrin and Cameron Przygoda, Aurora Przygoda of Edwardsville, and Drayden Craig of Valier; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lloyd was preceded in death by: his parents, his wife – Rosie Craig, a daughter-in-law - LeeAnn Craig; as well as 5 brothers and 2 sisters. A service honoring Lloyd’s life will be held Saturday afternoon, March 28, 2026 at 12 Noon at the Pentecostals of Lick Creek, 1275 North Lick Creek Road, Buncombe, Illinois 62912. Pastor Ken Perry and Brother Monty Craig, Mr. Craig’s grandson, will officiate. Burial will be in Busby Cemetery, south of Goreville. Visitation will be Saturday morning, March 28, 2026, from 10:30 A.M. until the service time at 12 Noon at the Pentecostals of Lick Creek.
