Lewis was born May 16, 1935 in Johnson County, Illinois. He was the youngest of four sons born to James Edgar Robinson and Mary Estella (Whiteside) Robinson. On August 6, 1957, Lewis was united in marriage to Delonda Anderson in Green Valley, Illinois. She preceded him in death on April 25, 2018. Lewis is survived by: his son – James Lewis (Audrey) Robinson of Marion, Illinois; and 2 grandchildren – William James Robinson and Mackenzie Elizabeth Robinson. In addition to his parents and wife, Lewis was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters-in-law – Walter (Melba) Robinson, Clarence (Berndine) Robinson, and Jim (Velma) Robinson. Lewis was an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War era. He earned a Bachelors Degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Illinois. Lewis was employed for many years in the Bursar’s office of the Illinois Institute of Technology, located in Chicago. Lewis and Delonda were avid students of family genealogy and local Johnson County history. Lewis was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. Both Lewis and Delonda had been active volunteers and members of the Goreville Senior Citizen’s Center. They worshipped at the First Baptist Church in Goreville. Lewis enjoyed attending classic car shows. A service honoring the life of Lewis Simpson Robinson will be conducted Thursday afternoon, January 16, 2025, at 1 P.M. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Brian Murley will officiate. Burial, with military graveside rites, will be in the Cana Cemetery, north of Goreville. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 11 A.M. until the service time at 1 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Heather Harper Treat Memorial Fund, P.O.
