Lee Roy Stafford

Lee Roy Stafford, age 80 years, a resident of the Reevesville Community, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday morning, August 18, 2018 at 6:50 AM at his home surrounded by his family. Lee Roy was born to Alvis “Buck” and Georgia V. (Buttrum) Stafford on June 6, 1938. Lee Roy was united in marriage to Karolyn P. Henderson on March 9, 1968. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2002. Survivors include: a daughter-Vicki (James) Murrie; 3 sons- Mike (Debbie) Stafford, Tim (Jody) Stafford and David (Tawny) Stafford all of Reevesville; 12 grandchildren- Jason Fraser of Grand Tower, Corey Fraser of Reevesville, Heather Stratmeyer of Belknap, Trever Murrie and Jess Murrie both of Reevesville, Cassie Schaefer of Murphysboro, Colten Stafford of Berea, Kentucky, Kayla Quint of Reevesville, Miranda Stafford of Goreville, Christian Stafford, Olivia Stafford and Payton Bennett all of Reevesville; 18 great- grandchildren; a sister -Barb (Bob) Konemann of Reevesville; 2 brothers- Dallas (Janice) Stafford of Metropolis and Wimpy (Alice) Stafford of Vienna. Lee Roy started working out of High School in Elgin, Illinois at Edison Mcgraw on the assembly line. In 1964 he went to work in Calvert City, Kentucky at the Steel Mill. Lee Roy worked approximately 17 years and then was laid off due to budget cuts in 1981. In 1982, Lee Roy was hired at the Vienna High School as a school bus driver and in 1984, he became the full time transportation manager. In 2002, Lee Roy retired from Vienna High School. After retirement, Lee Roy decided to go back to work driving the bus part time for the Vienna Grade School. He worked there for 12 years and retired again in 2014. Lee Roy had faithfully sold basketball and football tickets for Vienna High School for over 30 years. He also wrote for the Reevesville News for 16 years. Lee Roy had attended the Reevesville Community Church for over 50 years. Lee Roy will be missed by all who knew him. He was a hard worker and always wanted to be doing something. He had only missed a few days of work in his entire working career. He loved and was proud of his school, county and home. Lee Roy also loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed listening to gospel music, hunting and trapping, watching baseball, but most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior. A service honoring the life of Lee Roy Stafford will be held Wednesday afternoon, August 22, 2018 at 1PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Brother Steve Watkins and Brother Corey Fraser will officiate. Burial will be at the Reevesville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, August 21, 2018 from 5PM-9PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
