Kenneth L. Brown

Kenneth L. Brown, age 67 years, a resident of rural Vienna, Illinois, passed away Saturday morning, October 12, 2019, at 5:30 AM at his home. Kenny was born September 14, 1952 in the Bloomfield Township of Johnson County Illinois. He was the son of Lloyd J. “Short” Brown and Jeanette (Sanders) Brown. On February 14, 1976, Kenny was united in marriage to Cindy A. Epperheimer at the Simpson Baptist Church. She survives. Other survivors include: a daughter – Elizabeth A. (Harold) Knaak of Buncombe; a son – Andrew L. (Josie) Brown of Buncombe; 5 grandchildren – Katelyn Knaak, Joseph Brown, Jordan Brown, Alexandria Knaak, and Riyann Roeder; a sister – Doris Brown of Rosiclare; 2 brothers – Paul (Shirley) Brown of Bradley and Jim (Nancy) Brown of Graysknob, Kentucky; a half-brother – Jake Brown of Effingham; 2 half-sisters – Iva Mae Davault of New Burnside and Lucille Taylor of Gillespie; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by: a brother – Chester Brown; 2 half-brothers – Billy Joe Brown and Donald Brown; and a half-sister – Margaret Ann Brown. Kenny was a 1970 graduate of Vienna High School. He was employed for over 21 years as a maintenance man by the Johnson Co. Housing Authority, prior to his retirement. Kenny was a faithful member of the Simpson Baptist Church, where he had served as a church greeter, substitute Sunday school teacher and former Sunday school superintendent. Kenny and Cindy also had a ministry to the visually impaired. He was licensed to the gospel ministry by the Simpson Baptist Church on June 25, 2016. Kenny was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and 3-D shooting. He was a former member of the Vienna Sportsmen’s Club. A memorial service honoring the life of Kenneth Brown will be conducted Saturday afternoon, October 19, 2019, at 2 PM in the Art Murrie Resource Center of the Simpson Baptist Church, 7095 Illinois Route 147, Simpson, Illinois. Dr. Steven Williams and Pastor Jerry Jackson will officiate. Private inurnment will be at a later date in the Graves-Mt. Olive Cemetery north of Vienna. The family will receive relatives and friends Saturday afternoon, October 19, 2019, from 1 PM – 2 PM at the church. Following the memorial service a luncheon will be served for family and friends.
