Reeder, age 71 years, a resident of rural Vienna, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, October 17, 2025, at 3:14 A.M. at Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. Kathy was born May 27, 1954 in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She was the eighth of nine children born to Burk B. Hill and Mary M. (Waters) Hill. On October 21, 1972, Kathy was united in marriage to Robert E. “Bob” Reeder in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2014. Kathy is survived by: her children – Robbie (Aline) Reeder of Johnston City, Illinois, Kara (Tim) Pitchers of Herrin, Illinois, and Lena Reeder of Vienna, Illinois; 3 grandchildren – Sienna, Gracie Joe, and Robert; her siblings – Doretta, Bill, and Phillip; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, her Reeder family in-laws, as well as other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Kathy was preceded in death by her siblings – Burk, Twila, Charlotte, James “Bud” and Violet “Butch.” Kathy was a 1972 graduate of the Lawrenceville (Illinois) High School. In her youth, Kathy worked at a nursing care facility and she later provided child care and babysitting. Kathy’s passion, however, was her family. She was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. Kathy enjoyed many types of handcrafts, including crochet, needlepoint and embroidery. She was a staunch supporter of Special Olympics. Kathy was a member of the County Line Baptist Church in the Flatwoods community in Johnson County. A service honoring the life of Kathy Reeder will be conducted Thursday afternoon, October 23, 2025, at 5 P.M. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Jon Botarf will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 4 P.M. until the funeral hour at 5 P.M. at the funeral home.
