Nutty, age 77 years, a resident of Vienna, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 8, 2023, at 4:52 PM at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, Kentucky. Judy was born July 4, 1945 at the family home in Vienna. She was the daughter of Tilford and Grace Elzora (Mathis) Sanders. On September 5, 1964, Judy was united in marriage to John David Owen in Vienna. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1969. On February 14, 1981, Judy was united in marriage to Frank Nutty in Ocho Rios Jamaica. He preceded her in death on September 1, 2012. Judy is survived by: stepchildren – Bill Nutty of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Alan Nutty of Sesser, and Leanne Stoner of Peoria, Arizona; a daughter-in-law – Brenda Nutty of Carterville; grandchildren – Andrea Merchant, Chris Williams, Allyson Nutty; a great grandchild – Blair Nutty; 4 sisters – Jane McClellan of Vienna, Myra Powell of Ozark, Sharon Folkman of Bismarck, and Sally Taylor of Vienna; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husbands, Judy was preceded in death by: 5 sisters – Holly Colleen Sanders, Betty Daniels, Connie Garner, Vickie Webb, and Mary Harper; and 2 brothers – Jim Sanders and George Sanders. Judy was a graduate of Vienna High School. She served as co-owner, secretary/bookkeeper and office manager for the Lake Thunderhawk Recreation Area from 1977 until her retirement in 1997. Judy was a member of the First Christian Church in Vienna. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading, and many outdoor activities. Judy cherished time spent with her family, friends, and beloved canine companion, Otis. A service honoring the life of Judy S. Nutty will be conducted Saturday afternoon, January 14, 2023, at 12 Noon at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Les Chamberlain will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Visitation will be conducted Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 10 AM – 12 Noon at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Judy Nutty Memorial Flower Fund and left in the care of Bailey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 695, Vienna, Illinois 62995.
