Jim Alsip

Jim Alsip, son of Lee Alsip and Edna (Evans) Alsip, was born November 16, 1949 in Johnson County Illinois. He departed this life Monday morning, April 11, 2005, at 12:47 AM at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. At the time of his passing, Jim had attained the age of 55 years 4 months & 25 days. Jim was united in marriage to Ginny (Whatley) on February 22, 2003 in Vienna, Illinois. She survives. Other survivors include: His Mother ƒ?" Edna Alsip of Vienna, IL; 3 Sons ƒ?" Brad & Astrid Alsip of Langevag, Norway, Chad & Laura Alsip of Vienna, IL, & Tad & Monica Alsip of Streamwood, IL; 2 Stepchildren ƒ?" Amanda & Woody, both of Vienna, IL; 5 Grandchildren ƒ?" Andreas, Sunniva, Thomas, Nicholas, & Macy; 2 Sisters ƒ?" Joyce & Jim Kimmel of Vienna, IL and Mary & Kenny Bartley of Steeleville, IL; 2 Brothers ƒ?" Ron & Sharon Alsip of Chillicothe, OH and Richard & Janet Alsip of Vienna, IL; a host of Nieces & Nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his Father, Lee Alsip; His Maternal Grandparents ƒ?" J.O. & Essie Evans; His Paternal Grandparents ƒ?" Marshall & Gertie Alsip. Jim was a 1967 graduate of Vienna High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Jim was a member of the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post # 5222 of Vienna and the Metropolis American Legion Post # 306. Jim received training in Memphis, TN and was a registered timber inspector. He was employed as a Deputy Sheriff from December 1, 1974 ƒ?" March 1984 by the Johnson County Sheriffƒ?Ts Dept. Jim then served from March 1984 ƒ?" November 1995 as the Johnson County Probation Officer. Jim also had been employed as a laborer by Mott Excavating and later by Midwest Fence Company. Jim was a member of New Columbia Masonic Lodge # 336 AF&AM. He was a several time Past Worthy Patron of Banner Chapter # 614 Order of the Eastern Star. Jim was also a member of the A.A.O.N.M.S. (Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine). He had served as an Ambassador for the Shriner Childrenƒ?Ts Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Jim enjoyed working around his home, especially yard work & gardening. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, April 14, 2005, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Interment will be in the Berea Cemetery, south of Vienna, IL. Military graveside rites will be accorded. Friends may call after 5 PM Wednesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
