James L. Westerfield

James Lee Westerfield Age: 37 years A resident of Goreville, IL. Passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at 8:15 AM in rural Williamson County Illinois. James was born December 28, 1972 in Lincoln, IL. He was the son of Lee Westerfield and Helen (Brookmyer) Westerfield. James was united in marriage to Jeneice Lyn (Huckleberry) on October 5, 1996 in Marion, Illinois. She survives. Other survivors include: His Father - Lee Westerfield of Lincoln, IL His Mother - Helen Westerfield of Dix, IL 3 Daughters - Jasilyn Lane Westerfield Jaelie Isabella Westerfield Jianna Grace Westerfield - all at home a Sister - Patricia Southerd of Texico, IL His Maternal Grandmother - Lula Brookmyer of Freeman Spur, IL Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, other relatives & many dear friends. James was preceded in death by: His Maternal Grandfather - Gordon Brookmyer His Paternal Grandparents - Lawrence "Dan" & Esther Westerfield James was a graduate of the Lincoln, IL High School and attended John A. Logan Community College and Southern Illinois University. Currently, James was enrolled in a Basic E.M.T. class through Shawnee Community College. James had been employed by Midas Muffler in Marion, Cape Girardeau, & Carbondale. He was later employed as a Correctional Officer at the Vienna Correctional Center and, since 2002, had worked as a Cook Supervisor at the U.S. Penitentiary in Marion, IL. James was a member and steward for the American Federation of Government Employees (A.F.G.E.) Local 2343. James was also a volunteer member of the Goreville Fire Department. James was an active member of the Pulley's Mill Pentecostal Church. He had served as a board member, song leader, van driver, & Sunday school teacher. James was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting & fishing. He was also a devoted fan of the Southern Illinois Miners and St. Louis Cardinals baseball teams. James loved spending time with his daughters and was a wonderful husband and father. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2009, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in the Casey Springs Cemetery near Vienna. Friends may call after 5 PM Friday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
