James E. Crim, Jr.

James E. Crim, Jr. Age: 73 years A resident of the Brownfield community in rural Pope County Illinois. Passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 4, 2013, at 12:24 PM at Baptist Health Center in Paducah, Kentucky. James was born January 2, 1940 in Brownfield. He was the son of James A. Crim, Sr. and Opal J. (McCorkle) Crim. James was united in marriage to B. Eudora (Crossland) Crim on January 19, 1962 in Metropolis, Illinois. She survives. Other survivors include: His Children - Michael E. and Starla Crim of Paducah, KY Bruce E. Crim of the Brownfield community Marie E. Crim of Paducah, KY Jason E. Crim of Carterville, IL 2 Grandchildren – Antoine McCauley of Louisville, KY KeiMocia “MeMe” McCauley of Paducah, KY 4 Great Grandchildren – Saniya Mitchell, Zakiya Mitchell Jontavius McCauley, and Josiah Dye 4 Brothers - Robert I. and Sarah Crim of the Temple Hill community Prentiss L. and Mona Crim of Stonefort, IL Ricky and Paula Crim of Metropolis, IL Rodney and Debra Crim of the Brownfield community a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by: A Brother – Larry Crim 2 Sisters – Patricia “Tish” Crim and Hazel Marie Jones James was a 1958 graduate of Pope County Community High School. He had been employed as a construction laborer and participated in the building of the Smithland Lock and Dam project. James was later employed by the Illinois Department of Corrections, working at the Vienna Correctional Center and later at the Dixon Springs Impact Incarceration Program (Boot Camp). He retired with the rank of Lieutenant. James was also a lifelong farmer. James was a member of the Masonic fraternity. He had also served as secretary of the Laborer’s International Union, Local # 803 formerly located in Golconda, IL. James was a devoted Christian. He was a member of the Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church near Brownfield where he had faithfully served as a deacon and former Sunday School teacher. He also served on the Macedonia Cemetery Board. James was devoted to his family. He is remembered for his love of talking, visiting with friends, and his laughter. James also enjoyed fishing. A Home Going service will be conducted Saturday morning, June 8, 2013, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Benny Heady will officiate. Burial will be in the Macedonia Cemetery near Brownfield. Visitation will be from 8:30 AM – 11 AM Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
