Mr Henry McBride

Henry McBride passed away at 12:30 PM on Friday, March 2, 2012 at the Veterans Administration Community Living Center in Marion, Illinois. Mr. McBride was born on April 13, 1922 in New Columbia, Illinois to the late Bert and Ethel (Burnham) McBride and had attained the age of 89 years. He married Blanche Averitt on September 13, 1947 in Jonesboro and she preceded him in death on November 20, 1998. He served his country in the US Army during World War II. Mr. McBride was a lifelong farmer and had worked for some time as a technician for Choate Mental Health Center in Anna, Illinois. Henry was a member of the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post 5222 in Vienna. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, gardening, and taking long walks in the woods. He also enjoyed watching westerns. Henry was very devoted to his family and loved to spend time with them. He is survived by his daughters, Lois Kerley of Vienna, Illinois, Wanda and her husband James Schierbaum of Vienna, Illinois, 3 grandchildren, Becky and her husband Chuck Racey, Kim and her husband Chris Wurth and Kenneth and his wife Kiersten Kerley, 6 great grandchildren, Caleb Fehrenbacher, Samantha, Casey, Bailey, Connor & Tanner Wurth, a brother, Bertis and his wife Carrie McBride of Vienna, Illinois, several nieces, nephews and many friends. Henry was also anticipating the birth of a great grandchild due in September. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Walter and Elmer McBride. A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 5, 2012 at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, Illinois with Brother Tim Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow at the Bridges Cemetery in Vienna, Illinois. Military rites will be accorded by the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post 5222 and the Illinois National Guard Burial Honors Detail. Visitation will be held from 6 PM until 8 PM on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Heather Harper Treat Memorial Fund, PO Box 98, Vienna, Illinois or to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of the Veterans Administration Community Living Center for their excellent care. They were Henry’s special family and home away from home.
