Genevieve was born December 26, 1929 in the Foreman community in Johnson County Illinois. She was the daughter of Clyde and Gladys (Morford) Miller. On May 26, 1948, Genevieve was united in marriage to Curtis Fairless in Piggott, Arkansas. Together, Curtis and Genevieve shared over 65 years of marriage prior to his death on April 25, 2014. Genevieve is survived by: her son – Bill (his wife, Kitty) Fairless of Vienna; grandchildren – David (Casey) Fairless and Bobby (Lauren) Fairless all of St. Louis, Missouri and Becky Fairless of Murray, Kentucky; 4 great grandchildren – Kathleen, Joshua, Nicaela, and London; and a special nephew - Jerry (his wife, Sharon) Miller of Simpson, Illinois. In addition to her parents & husband, Genevieve was preceded in death by: an infant brother – Walter Miller; a brother – Bill Miller who was killed in action during the Korean War on June 1, 1951; her daughter – Jeanne Elam; and a sister-in-law – Helen Miller Robinson. Genevieve was a member of the Vienna High School class of 1948. Following her graduation, Genevieve was employed as a bookkeeper by Veach Oil Company for a number of years. Later, she worked as a bus driver for the Vienna Grade School for 29 years, prior to her retirement. Genevieve also enjoyed volunteering at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion for over 10 years. Genevieve enjoyed working alongside her husband, Curtis, in the operation of their farm. She cherished her role as a farm wife. She is remembered for her love of cooking and gardening. Genevieve was a longtime faithful member of Taylor United Methodist Church, where she took an active role in the United Methodist Women’s organization. A funeral service honoring the life of Genevieve Fairless will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, April 15, 2025, at 4 P.M. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Jeff Owens and Pastor Jerry Huckleberry will officiate. Burial will be in the Belknap Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, April 14, 2025, from 5 P.M. – 7 P.M. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. There will also be a time of visitation from 3 P.M. until the funeral hour at 4 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
