Frances L. Schroeder

Frances Lee Schroeder Age: 86 years A resident of Red Bud, IL and a former resident of Johnson County Illinois. Passed away Tuesday morning, March 8, 2011, at 10:30 AM at the Red Bud Regional Hospital. Frances was born July 17, 1924 at the family home near Vienna, Illinois. She was the daughter of Charles A. Whiteside and Minnie L. (Taylor) Whiteside. Frances was united in marriage to Herman Gustav Schroeder on March 30, 1951 in Chester, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2009. Survivors include: Her Children - Suzanne Neff, and her husband Terry, of Red Bud, IL Herman Gustav Schroeder, Jr. and his wife Cathy, of Memphis, TN Mary Garwood, and her husband Mark, of Afton, VA 6 Grandchildren - Dacia Burks, Danielle & Jeff Byars, Ginger & Scott Nagel, Nicholas & Myky Schroeder, Frances Garwood & Christopher Garwood 6 Great Grandchildren, with 3 more due later this year In addition to her Parents & Husband, Frances was preceded in death by: 2 Sisters - Mary Lou Whiteside Peters and Emelyn Whiteside Evers 2 Nephews - Jimmy Evers and Tim Peters Frances was a 1942 graduate of the Vienna High School. Frances taught in a one room school in Rockwood, IL, where her students called her "Miss Frances" and she was known to join them in a game of jacks. Frances loved the Lord Jesus above all things. After that, her family was most important in her life. She loved doing things for her family & friends and supported her husband in his ministry thru the years. Frances and Gus were devoted to each other and were the best of friends. In their retirement, they loved to travel and had the privilege of visiting every state with the exception of Hawaii. Frances loved crafts and sewing. She was very talented in many types of handcrafts. Frances made afghans, quilts, doll clothes, hats and many other special items. She hand crafted a baby quilt for each of her grandchildren. Frances was a member of the Pond Ladies Club and attended the Taylor United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2011, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Brother Marc Byrd will officiate. Burial will be in the Casey Springs Cemetery, north of Vienna. Visitation will be from 11:30 AM - 1 PM Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Memorials may be made to the Casey Springs Church and Cemetery Fund, c/o Judy Huckleberry, 915 Pond Road, Vienna, IL 62995 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
