Eviah E. Girtman

Eviah Esther Girtman, daughter of Hanford Walker & Liza Jane (Burns) Walker, was born November 19, 1919 in Johnson County IL. She departed this life Thursday morning, October 9, 2003 at 8:20 AM at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, IL. At the time of her passing Eviah had attained the age of 83 years 10 months & 20 days. Eviah was united in marriage to Edward Girtman on December 20, 1934. He preceded her in death on February 12, 1990. Survivors include: 2 Daughters & Sons-in-Law – Mary Lee & Robert H. Farmer of Pinckneyville, IL & Jean & Curtis Barringer of Buncombe, IL; 7 Grandchildren – Eva & Dennis Prater; Kimberly & Michael Jones, Sue & William Webb, Dean & Holly Barringer, Rhonda & Dallas Maze, Roger & Becky Barringer, & Melinda & John McCuan; 9 Step Grandchildren; 18 Great Grandchildren – Jason Prater, Jennifer Prater, Brian Bruno, Bruce Bruno, Nicki & Jarrett Steinsultz, Matt Webb, Courtney Webb, Jamie Maze, Meagan Maze, Madyson Maze, Brandi McCuan, Dusty McCuan, Faith Barringer, Corbin Barringer, Garrett Barringer, Eli Barringer, Brenley Barringer, & Ashley Barringer; 20 Step Great Grandchildren; 2 Great-Great Grandchildren – Alexis Steinsultz & Baylee Webb; 26 Step Great-Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces & Nephews. In addition to her Parents & Husband, Eviah was preceded in death by: a Great Grandson – Wesley Maze; 2 Brothers – James Allen Walker & Willis Lester Walker; 3 Sisters – Nellie Afton Walker, Loudean Walker & Ina Mae Walker. Eviah attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, IL. She was a homemaker. Eviah had attended the Cedar Grove Church, near Buncombe, IL. She enjoyed reading & crochet. Eviah was a loving & devoted Mother & Grandmother. Eviah leaves her family & many friends to cherish her memory. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, October 11, 2003, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Brent Schuetz will officiate. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, near Buncombe, IL. Friends may call after 5 PM Friday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
