Ethel Fay Bloodworth

Ethel Fay Bloodworth, age 89 years, a resident of rural New Burnside, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 6:39 P.M. at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. Ethel was born February 16, 1935 in the White Ash (formerly Dog Walk) community in Williamson County Illinois. She was the daughter of Ernest and Mary (LaBott) Jack. In February 1955, Ethel was united in marriage to Philip J. “P.J.” Bloodworth. He preceded her in death on May 8, 2009. Ethel is survived by: her children – Joel (Donna) Bloodworth and Kristie Bloodworth all of New Burnside, Illinois; 4 grandsons – Casey (Jennifer) Bloodworth of Marion, Illinois, Cory (Lisa) Bloodworth of New Burnside, Illinois, Jessie (Emily) Hartman of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Jamie George of New Burnside, Illinois; 4 great grandchildren – Addison, Brayden, Savannah, and Sylvanas; a sister-in-law – Devona Bloodworth of Sebree, Kentucky; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Ethel was preceded in death by her siblings – Helen, Betty, Sandy, Harry, Merl, Earl, William Hobert, Ralph, Eddie, and Jerry. Ethel was a 1949 graduate of LaMaster Elementary School in Williamson County. She was the valedictorian of her class. Ethel was a 1953 graduate of Marion High School. Ethel was a homemaker. She was also the former co-owner and office manager of Bloodworth Head and Block Repair near Ozark. In her spare time, Ethel enjoyed reading, and working crossword as well as Sudoku puzzles. Ethel was a member of Antioch Church near Stonefort and had previously attended the Walnut Grove Baptist Church near New Burnside. She is remembered as the strength of her family. She always referred to her husband, P.J., as the love of her life. Ethel enjoyed spending time with her family and particularly cherished her grandsons and great grandchildren. A graveside service honoring Ethel’s life will be conducted Monday afternoon, September 2, 2024, at 1:30 P.M. at the Wise-Robinson Cemetery, north of Ozark. Interment will follow. Pastor Darrell Ford will officiate. There will be no visitation. Those attending the service are invited to gather at the cemetery at 1:15 P.M. Monday afternoon.
