Eleanor Rose Walker age 87 years a resident of rural Grantsburg, IL Passed away Thursday morning, July 2, 2009, at 2:25 AM at Southgate Health Care Center in Metropolis, IL. Eleanor was born July 10, 1921 in Mitchell, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Earl Lowman and Lola (Wade) Lowman. Eleanor was united in marriage to D'Anson "Dee" Walker on August 25, 1942 in Danville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2008. Survivors include: a Daughter - Diana D. & Tom Pruemer of Grantsburg, IL a Granddaughter - Tricia & Gary Thomson of Grantsburg, IL 2 Step Grandchildren - Todd & Janet Pruemer Chris & Melvin Will 2 Great Grandchildren - Tyler Votava Trace Thomson 9 Step Great Grandchildren - Dani & Justin Ruholl Beth Walk Adam & Michelle Walk Seth Walk Kelsey Pruemer Breanna Pruemer Kaitlyn Pruemer Ross Will Tori Will a Step Great-Great Grandson - Logan Ruholl a Grandson-in-Law - Charley Votava of St. Charles, MO a Brother-in-Law - James M. Walker of Vienna, IL a Sister-in-Law - Margaret Price of Metropolis, IL Nieces & Nephews Eleanor is also survived by many friends, including a special friend, Dave Prewitt of Vienna, IL. In addition to her Parents & Husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by: 2 Sisters 2 Brothers During World War II, while her husband Dee was serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, Eleanor was a member of a Marine wives auxiliary. She was a graduate of the University of Illinois at Champaign, IL. Eleanor was an elementary school teacher. She taught at the Wartrace Public School, Franklin Elementary School, and Reevesville Public School. She was a member of the Johnson County Retired Teacher's Association. Eleanor attended the Benton Community Church. She enjoyed cooking and was an avid reader of fictional literature. Funeral services will be held Monday morning, July 6, 2009, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. David Wright will officiate. Burial will be in the Wartrace Cemetery, near Grantsburg, IL.
