Dorothy was born January 21, 1945 in Centralia, Illinois. She was the daughter of Orville Foutch and Mildred (Bateman) Foutch. In 1967, Dorothy was united in marriage to Brian L. Gauss in Belleville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2010. Dorothy is survived by: a son – Morris W. (Penny) Aldrich of Fairview Heights, Illinois; grandsons – Brian (Suzanne) Aldrich of Vienna, Illinois, Jason (Chrystal) Aldrich of Fairview Heights, Illinois, and Justin Aldrich of Belleville, Illinois; great granddaughters – Heather Marie Aldrich, Emily Lynn Aldrich, Avery Haeffner, and Alyssa Boggs; a sister – Barb (Irvin) Elliston of Womac, Illinois; a brother – Billy (Donna) Foutch of Fairview Heights, Illinois; her significant other - Ron Brown of Vienna, Illinois; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by: an infant daughter – Kimberly Aldrich; and siblings – Bud Foutch, Wilber Foutch, Pauline (Howard Owens) Paine, Richard Foutch, Donald Foutch, Phyllis Scalan, Betty Willis, Jean Schroeder, Virginia Foutch and Wilma Foutch. Dorothy worked for many years as a chef for Schroeder’s Catering in Shiloh, Illinois. She enjoyed camping, boating, and spending time with her family. A celebration of the life of Dorothy Gauss will be conducted at 4 P.M. Friday, October 11, 2024, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Mandy Curry will officiate. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 P.M. until the service hour at 4 P.M. on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the funeral home.
