Donald Bruce Walter Age: 75 years A resident of rural Vienna, IL. Passed away Sunday afternoon March 17, 2013, at 3:45 PM at the Baptist Health Center in Paducah, Kentucky. Donald Bruce was born on July 13, 1937 in the Pond Community in Johnson County, Illinois. He was the son of David Bruce Walter and Lois M. (McFatridge) Walter. Donald Bruce was united in marriage to Edna (Trovillion) Walter on February 28, 2000 in Vienna, IL. She survives. Other survivors include: His Children- Penny Walter George & David Gibson of Vienna, IL Sherry Walter-Field and Dan of Vienna, IL Doug & Julie Walter of Vienna, IL 8 Grandchildren- Lindsay, Jessica, Chelsea, Kelin, Laeytn, Amanda, Heather & Desiree 5 Great Grandchildren- Mason, Kaiden, Mabel, Addisyn, & Jaxon A Son- In- Law- Greg Deaton of Marion, IL In addition to his parents Donald Bruce was preceded in death by: A Daughter- Kitty Deaton A Brother- Ray Walter Donald Bruce was a 1955 graduate of the Vienna High School and had attended Southern Illinois University and West Point. Donald Bruce was a US Army Veteran. He had worked at the Anna State Hospital as a Psychiatric Aide. He began working in the office of the Johnson County Supervisor of Assessments on November 16, 1976, then served as the Supervisor of Assessments from March 1, 1980 until his retirement on March 31, 1997. Donald Bruce was a member of the N.R.A. and of the Masonic Fraternity. He was a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church. Donald Bruce was an avid outdoorsman he enjoyed going hunting, fishing & camping. He also liked to travel. He loved spending time with his family and especially cherished the time spent with his grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday morning March 20, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, IL. Rev. David Faulkner will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by the Beggs- Gurley VFW and the Illinois National Guard Burial Honors Detail. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5PM- 8PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
