Dolores Angeline Houser

Dolores Angeline Houser, 80, a resident of rural New Burnside and a former resident of Vienna, departed this life Monday February 10, 2014 at 10:30 PM at Baptist Health Center in Paducah, Kentucky. Dolores was born to Walter & Angeline (Rogucki) Maziarka on June 21st 1933 in Chicago, IL. Dolores was united in marriage to Harold O'Neal Houser on August 18, 1951 in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1969. A lifetime learner, she continued her education until her retirement from Shawnee Development Council, as the Manager of the Senior Care Program from 1969 to 1998. Dolores was a member of the Vienna First Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday School, bringing joy to many children in the congregation. In her spare time, Dolores enjoyed researching her family history and connecting with family & friends on the internet. Some of her favorite activities included her love for dancing & classic films. Dolores was a former member of the Johnson County Chamber of Commerce. She leaves behind her son Harold of Sesser, IL, loving daughter Linda (Bob) Tanner of New Burnside, IL, grandchildren Adam, Christopher, Marcus, Anthony, Michael, Travis and Kaitlin. Dolores shared a home and a unique bond with her grandson Bobby Tanner by whom she will be happily remembered but deeply missed. Dolores also leaves behind her sister Rose Marie Palgutta of Galena, IL and brother Robert (Sharon) Maziarka of Libertyville, IL, sister-in-law Leona Maziarka, dearly adored nieces Jeanna (Dan) Jackson and godchild Kimberly Maziarka, nephew Erik (Wendy) Selva and great nephew Brandon, and great niece Tanya. In addition to her parents and husband Harold, Dolores was preceded in death by a son Michael, a brother George Maziarka, a sister Ruthie Selva, a brother-in-law Edward Palgutta and a niece Debbie Selva. Funeral services will be held, Saturday morning, February 15th, at 11 am at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Bill Gholson will officiate. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery, north of Vienna. Visitation will be conducted from 5-8 pm Friday, February 14th, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
