Deborah Ann Capogreco

Deborah Ann Capogreco, age 60 years, a resident of Herrin and a former resident of Johnson County, passed away Thursday evening, February 16, 2017, at 5:55 PM at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Matt Smith, in Johnston City, Illinois following an extended illness. Deborah was born July 25, 1956 in Turrell, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Vernon F. Taylor and Frankie Ann (Covington) Taylor. Deborah was united in marriage to Arthur L. Capogreco on August 7, 2005 at the First Pentecostal Church in Herrin, Illinois. He survives. In addition to her husband, Deborah is survived by: her daughters- Amber (her husband Scott) Tite of Ozark, Sarah (her husband Matt) Smith of Johnston City and Emily (her husband Victor) Hargis of Herrin; 6 grandchildren- Savanna Lee, Moriah Joy, Skyler Matthew, Nic Matthew, Brently Del and Kaden Ryan; a brother- James Robert (his wife Lori) Taylor of Vienna; 2 sisters- Brenda (her husband Robert) Hamp of Harrisburg and Violet “V.J.” (her husband David) Treat of Mattoon; several nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear friends. Deborah was preceded in death by her parents. Deborah was a 1974 graduate of the Roxanna High School. She also earned a dental assistant certificate of achievement. Deborah was employed for many years as a dental assistant in the office of Dr. Clifford Neill in Carbondale. She was also employed at the Vienna IGA grocery for over 20 years and was later employed for over 5 years in the medical records division of Southern Illinois Healthcare (S.I.H.) in Herrin. Deborah was a faithful member of the Herrin First Pentecostal Church where she had taught in the children’s Sunday school department and was a member of the church choir. Deborah was a dedicated student of the Bible. Deborah is fondly remembered for her love of shopping, flower gardening, and reading. She particularly enjoyed the literary works of Patricia Cornwell. Deborah was also a fantastic cook and made the best potato soup. A service honoring the life of Deborah Capogreco will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 12 noon at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Michael Tetmeyer and Mrs. Ruth Tetmeyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Gilead Cemetery near Simpson. Visitation will be conducted from 5PM-8PM Monday evening, February 20, 2017 at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Memorials may be made to an educational fund for the benefit of Deborah’s grandson, Skyler. Please make checks for this fund payable to Sarah Smith.
