Dƒ?TAnson ƒ?oDeeƒ?? Walker Age: 88 years A resident of rural Grantsburg, IL. Passed away Sunday morning, February 24, 2008, at 6 AM at The Southgate Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis, IL. Dee was born January 17, 1920 near Grantsburg, IL. He was the son of James Walker and Minnie (Trovillion) Walker. Dee was united in marriage to Eleanor (Lowman) on July 10, 1942 in Danville, IL. She survives. Other survivors include: a Daughter ƒ?" Diana D. Pruemer, and her husband Tom of Grantsburg, IL a Granddaughter ƒ?" Tricia Votava, and her husband Charley, of Grantsburg, IL Step Grandchildren - Todd & Janet Pruemer Chris & Melvin Will a Great Grandson ƒ?" Tyler Votava Step Great Grandchildren - Dani Ruholl, and her husband Justin Beth Walk, Adam Walk, Seth Walk, Kelsey Pruemer, Breanna Pruemer, Kaitlyn Pruemer, Ross Will, & Tori Will a Brother ƒ?" James M. Walker of Vienna, IL a Sister ƒ?" Margaret Price of Metropolis, IL Nieces & Nephews a Special Friend ƒ?" Dave Prewitt of Vienna, IL In addition to his Parents, Dee was preceded in death by a Brother ƒ?" Wade Walker. Dee was a Vienna High School graduate and attended the University of Illinois. He was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving in the Pacific theater of operation. He was a life member of the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post 5222. Dee operated ƒ?oDeeƒ?Ts Farm & Home Storeƒ?? in Vienna for approx. 5 years. He was employed as a welder at Union Carbide (now USEC) in Paducah, KY for 22 years. He also taught welding at Vienna Correctional Center for approx. 8 years. For several years, Dee was the announcer for ƒ?oVienna On The Air,ƒ?? a daily-aired radio program over WMOK, Metropolis, IL. Dee attended the Benton Community Church. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, & writing poetry. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning, February 28, 2008, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Bro. Dave Prewitt and Bro. Bob Murley will officiate. Interment will be in the Wartrace Cemetery, near Grantsburg, IL. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post 5222 of Vienna, IL.
