Cynthia E. “Cindy” Moehlenkamp-Smith Age: 57 years A resident of Ozark, Illinois. Passed away Thursday morning, August 18, 2011, at 8:45 AM near Tunnel Hill, Illinois the result of an automobile accident. Cindy was born January 23, 1954 in Evansville, Indiana. She was the daughter of James J. & Dorothy M. (Tonnemacher) Moehlenkamp. Cindy was united in marriage to C. Lee Smith on June 10, 1978 in Evansville, Indiana. He survives. Other survivors include: Her Children - James A. Smith, and his wife Jessica, of St. Louis, MO Elizabeth A. “Betsy” Stierwalt, and her husband Justin, of Champaign, IL Charles J. Smith & Elizabeth A. Cole of Fredericksburg, VA Her Grandchildren – Abigale, Jameson, Joshua, Reaghan, Rylen, and she was anticipating the birth of a grandchild in April 2012. 2 Sisters - Marilyn Baehl, and her husband Albert, of Booneville, IN Susie Stephan of Booneville, IN 2 Sisters-in-Law - Debbie Minor & Charlie Hindman of Bandera, TX Mary Blessing & Ernie Jordan of Edmond, OK Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, other relatives & many dear friends. In addition to her Parents, Cindy was preceded in death by: 2 Sisters – Julia Ann Moehlenkamp and Margaret “Peggy” Moehlenkamp-Beaven A Brother-in-Law – Hank Stephan Cindy was a 1972 graduate of Rex Mundi High School in Evansville, IN. She earned her Bachelor of Education degree at St. Louis University and Master of Outdoor Recreation Degree from Indiana University. Cindy was an educator and had taught in the Johnson County Public School system. Cindy had served as a counselor, program director and former board member for Camp Ondessonk youth camp at Ozark. She was also a longtime swimming and water safety instructor (W.S.I.) for children and youth throughout the region and had a great love of the outdoors. Cindy was an active and faithful member of St. Paul Catholic Church at Vienna where she also served on the parish council. Cindy’s love of children was demonstrated also through her church work and she had actively worked with youth groups at St. Paul Catholic Church in Vienna and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Cindy was devoted to her family and enjoyed “grandmothering.” A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning, August 22, 2011, at 10 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church in Vienna. Father Tom Barrett will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna and will begin Sunday afternoon, August 21, 2011, at 4 PM with a prayer service.
