Clyde Taylor

Clyde Taylor, age 80 years, a resident of rural Vienna, passed away Monday, September 17, 2018, at 12:24 PM at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois. Clyde was born July 18, 1938 in Metropolis, Illinois. He was the third of five children born to Omer H. and Clara Ethel (Whiteside) Taylor. On December 21, 1963, Clyde was united in marriage to Sally Sanders at the Vienna First Christian Church. She survives. Other survivors include: their children – Daniel Edward (Lisa) Taylor of Vienna, Penny Jo (David) Rockwell of Vienna, Pamela Jane (Barry) Treat of Ozark and Amy Rebecca (Clint) Bishop of Simpson; grandchildren –Zachary Taylor of Woodlawn, Joshua Taylor actively deployed with the U.S. Air Force, Lauren Windings-Hansen of Carbondale, Adam Windings of Villa Ridge, Travis (Ambyer) Ames of Granger, Wyoming, Taylor (her fiancé Lee Givens) Ames of Vienna and Kathleen Ames of Vienna, Emme Treat and Owen Treat both of Ozark, Meghan Bishop (Brandon) Potocki of Chicago, Kasey Bishop, Carter Bishop, and Kennedy Bishop all of Simpson, great grandchildren – Evan Michael Taylor, Clayton Andrew Taylor, Mila Kay Taylor, Noah Aaron Taylor, Elaina Louise Hansen, Oliver James Hansen, Bryce Matthew Windings, Daniel Ames, Caleb Ames, Brayden Ames, Kyle Givens, Dylan Givens, and Ethan Givens; 2 sisters – Rosemary (Gene) Trammel of Marion and Stella (Paul) Vinson of Vienna; a brother – Sherman (Ann) Taylor of Vienna; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law – Omer H. and Phyllis Taylor. Clyde was a 1955 graduate of Vienna High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Clyde was a lifelong farmer operating Clyde Taylor Farms north of Vienna. Additionally, along with his brothers Omer H. and Sherman, he was involved in O.C.S. Taylor, Inc. and Taylor-Gray Construction Co. Clyde was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local # 318. Clyde was a member of Pleasant Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Whiteside Cemetery board. Clyde enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He enjoyed mowing grass and working on his mower as well as sitting on the porch watching the hummingbirds. Clyde cherished time spent with his family and friends and particularly enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. A service honoring the life of Clyde Taylor will be conducted Friday morning, September 21, 2018, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in the Whiteside Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, September 20, 2018, from 5 PM – 8 PM and Friday morning, September 21, 2018, from 10 AM – 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
