Charlotte was born May 31, 1941 in Lotts Creek, Iowa. She was the daughter of Edwin and Viola (Bell) Wichtendahl. Charlotte was formerly united in marriage to William “Bill” Orange. They were married in August 1965 in Iowa. Charlotte is survived by: her son – Shane L. (his fiancé, Megan) Orange of Marion, Illinois; 4 grandchildren – Haylee, McKenzie, Trenton, and Brylee; 3 great grandchildren – Dempsey, Nova, and Callum; 4 siblings – Joan, Maryls, Jane, and Terry; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by: a daughter – Shari M. “Tinker” Orange Stepter; and her siblings – Sharon, Diane, Darrell, and Jeanette. Charlotte was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. Later in her life, Charlotte worked in the housekeeping department at Harrah’s Riverboat Casino in Metropolis. Charlotte was a former member of Banner Chapter Order of the Eastern Star at Ganntown and was currently a member of Egyptian Chapter # 30 Order of the Eastern Star in Vienna. Charlotte was also a member of the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post # 5222 Ladies Auxiliary. Charlotte enjoyed attending yard sales and auctions as well as taking shopping trips to the Dollar General Store and local thrift stores. Charlotte was an election judge for the Vienna I precinct but was always willing to assist in other precincts as needed. She was a member of the Simpson Baptist Church. A funeral service honoring the life of Charlotte Orange will be conducted Sunday afternoon, March 23, 2025, at 1 P.M. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Jeff Van Cleve will officiate. Burial will be in the Belknap Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour at 1 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Simpson Baptist Church, P.O.
