Charles Grant

Charles Wesley Grant Age: 91 years A resident of Buncombe, Illinois. Passed away Thursday afternoon, January 7, 2010, at 3:45 PM at the Jonesboro Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. Charles was born July 18, 1918 in Union County Illinois. He was the son of John Wesley Grant & Lula Catherine (Merriman) Grant. Charles was united in marriage to Anna Mae (Hudgens) on June 20, 1940 in Jackson, Missouri. She preceded him in death on September 1, 1991. Survivors include: a Daughter - Phyllis Morse, and her husband Claude, of Buncombe, IL 2 Grandsons - Zandle Morse, and his wife Lisa, of Buncombe, IL Wesley Morse, and his wife Mary Sue, of Mulkeytown, IL 2 Great Granddaughters - Chloe Morse and Hannah Mae Morse a Sister-in-Law - Helen Grant of Buncombe, IL 2 Brothers-in-Law - Ferrell Dame of Herrin, IL Olen Meyers of Poplar Bluff, MO Several Nieces and Nephews In addition to his Parents and Wife, Charles was preceded in death by: 3 Brothers - Arlie Grant, Irvin Grant, & Ivan Grant 5 Sisters - Edith Hennesy, Neva Dame, Eva Hudgens, Mildred Stewart, & Mary Meyers Charles was a graduate of the Elvira Public School. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed operating his farm and spending time cutting firewood. He drove a school bus for the Buncombe Public School system for a numbers of years and later worked as a laborer at a local sawmill. Charles was a Gospel minister for approximately 60 years and preached in a number of area churches. He served as pastor of the Cedar Grove Church near Buncombe. Charles was a member of the Lick Creek Pentecostal Church. Charles was a very loving, caring, and devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, & Great Grandfather. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 11, 2010, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. John Boyd and Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Hall Cemetery near Lick Creek, IL. Friends may call from 4 PM - 8 PM Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
