Catherine was born January 20, 1931 in Vienna, Illinois. She was the daughter of Elbert and Edna (Whitnel) Taylor. On June 12, 1948, Catherine was united in marriage to Ado Brumley in Piggott (Clay County) Arkansas. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1983. Catherine is survived by: her children – Roger Brumley of Vienna, Illinois, Bob (Karen) Brumley of Joliet, Illinois, and Donna (Chuck) Girtman of Metropolis, Illinois; a son-in-law – Kevin Clover of Vienna, Illinois; grandchildren – Scott Rheaume, Sam Girtman, Alex (Aubrey) Brumley, Rachel Cooper, Heather Baker, Juanita Baker, and Ruthie Baker; great grandchildren – Noah Donaldson, Claire Cooper, Lily Cooper, Ronnie Rogers, Abigail Rogers, Amelia Rogers, Raelyn Brumley, and Isaiah Brumley; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Catherine was preceded in death by: a daughter – Cynthia “Cindy” Clover; a daughter-in-law – June Brumley; a grandson – Travis Girtman; a granddaughter – Annie Brumley; 2 great grandsons – Aiden Baker and Ethan Rheaume; and her siblings – Howard Taylor, Gilbert Taylor, Guy Taylor, and Elberta Choate. Catherine was a graduate of Vienna High School and a member of the class of 1948. She was employed by Shawnee Development Council where she had worked as a home health aide, transportation aide, and finally served as the Johnson County coordinator, prior to her retirement. Catherine was a former member of the Pond Community Ladies Club as well as the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed quilting, flower gardening, and working jigsaw puzzles. Catherine is fondly remembered for her love of spending time with family and friends. She particularly cherished time spent with her grandchildren. She was a former member of Pleasant Ridge Church. More recently, Catherine attended Countryside Christian Church, until her declining health prevented her from attending services. A funeral service honoring the life of Catherine Brumley will be held Thursday morning, September 3, 2026, at 11 A.M. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Brother Bill Littrell will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, north of Vienna. Visitation will be conducted Thursday morning, September 3, 2026, from 10 A.M. until the funeral hour at 11 A.M.
