Caleb F. Brinkley

Caleb F. Brinkley, son of Otis F. Brinkley and Ethel (Utz) Brinkley, was born September 8, 1924 in Olney, Illinois. He departed this life Monday evening, January 1, 2007, at 7:37 PM at his home in Marion. At the time of his passing, Caleb had attained the age of 82 years 3months & 24 days. Caleb was united in marriage to Mary Lou (Henard) on November 10, 1945 in Olney, Illinois. She survives. Other survivors include: A Daughter - Brenda White of Nashville, TN; A Grandson: Steven Brinkley; A Granddaughter: Shawn White; A Great Grandson: Caleb Joe Brinkley; A Sister: Evelyn Brown of Olney, IL; 2 Brothers: Harold Brinkley of Olney, IL and Herman Brinkley of Lawrenceville, IL; Several Nieces & Nephews In addition to his Parents, Caleb was preceded in death by: A Son ƒ?" Steven Brinkley; 6 Brothers ƒ?" Dale Brinkley, Raymond Brinkley, Frank Brinkley, Gerald Brinkley, George Brinkley, James ƒ?oButchƒ?? Brinkley. Caleb was a member of the Olney High School class of 1942. Caleb was a US Army Air Force veteran. He received his basic training in Colorado & Florida and was then deployed to Italy and served in the European Theater of operation during World War II for approx. 2 years prior to his discharge on October 1, 1945. Caleb was a member of the Chrisman American Legion # 477 and Chrisman VFW Post # 2876. Caleb was employed for approx. 43 years as a steam fitter in the construction industry prior to his retirement in September 1987. He traveled and worked in numerous states during his working career; namely Corpus Christi and Brownsville, TX. He had been employed by the Alan Construction Company and Morris Construction Company, as well as other construction firms throughout his career. He was a member of the United Association Steamfitters Local #157 in Terre Haute, IN. Caleb was a 50+ year member of the Olney Masonic Lodge # 140 AF&AM. He was a member of the Marion First Baptist Church. Caleb was a skilled woodworker, enjoyed ballroom dancing, and boating. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon, January 4, 2007, at 1 PM at the Marion First Baptist Church, 401 West Union St., Marion, IL. Dr. Joey Brent and Rev. Kevin Coe will officiate. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Buncombe, IL. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Heyde-Pillow VFW and Marion American Legion Posts.
