C. Joan Faulkner

C. Joan Faulkner, age 81 years, a resident of Vienna, Illinois, passed away Friday morning, January 30, 2026, at 7:13 A.M. at her home. Joan was born July 7, 1944 in Simpson, Illinois. She was the daughter of William Russell Kerley and Alma Rita (Wells) Kerley. On July 12, 2008, Joan was united in marriage to Richard R. Owen at the Gambit Golf Course at Vienna. He survives. Joan is also survived by: her daughter – LaRita (Max) Nance of Simpson, Illinois; 4 grandchildren – Jason DeWayne Sullivan of Marion, Illinois, Racheal Huckelberry of Tunnel Hill, Illinois, Kaleb Nance of Marion, Illinois, and Heather Groner of Buncombe, Illinois; 7 great-grandchildren – Axel, Elijah, Marshall, Windy, Jordan, Paige, and Peyton; a niece – Lisa Laird of Marion, Illinois; a great-nephew – Mason Kerley of Fillmore, Illinois; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Joan was preceded in death by: her father – William Russell Kerley; her mother and step-father – Alma Rita and Ralph Parmele; her brother – Russell Leon Kerley; and a nephew – Kevin Kerley. Joan was a graduate of Woodruff High School in Peoria, Illinois and had attended Illinois Central College in East Peoria, Illinois. Joan was employed for 29 years and 8 months as an examiner at the Illinois Secretary of State Drivers License facility in Vienna, prior to her retirement. Joan was a member of Egyptian Chapter # 30 Order of the Eastern Star. She had been recognized and honored as a 50 year member of the fraternity at the December 2025 meeting. Joan was also a staunch supporter of both the Illinois Sheriff’s Association as well as Boys Town. Joan cherished time spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, shopping and going out to eat with family and friends. Joan was of the Christian faith. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. A private service for her family will be held. Interment will be in the Gilead Cemetery, near Simpson.
