Brad Davis

William B. “Brad” Davis, age 62 years, a resident of rural Vienna, Illinois, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, March 8, 2023, at 11:30 PM at SIH Herrin Hospital. At the time of his passing, Brad was surrounded by members of his beloved family. Brad was born October 16, 1960 in Anna, Illinois. He was the son of William Lee “Bill” Davis and Nancy A. (Erwin) Davis. On July 16, 1982, Brad was united in marriage to Dawna Bradshaw at the Vienna First United Methodist Church. Dawna preceded him in death on June 18, 1997. Brad is survived by: his children – Andria (Zack) Nichols of Ozark and Garrett Davis of Grantsburg; grandchildren – Dayton, Collin, and Destiny Nichols and Drake and Kamden Davis; a brother – Jeff (Patty) Davis of Old Hickory, Tennessee and a sister - Debbie Beggs of Aurora, Colorado; as well a nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Brad was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Nancy Davis and his beloved wife, Dawna. Brad was a 1978 graduate of Vienna High School. During his high school career, Brad was a standout baseball pitcher. Following graduation, Brad attended Southeast Missouri University (SEMO) where he also played baseball. In 2008, Brad was inducted into the Vienna High School hall of fame. Many of his records continue to stand unbroken. Brad also participated in class 1A/Coal Ball baseball leagues. Brad was employed in the maintenance department of Massac Memorial Hospital and served as a E.M.T. for the Johnson County Ambulance Service. He also worked for the forestry service at Ferne Clyffe State Park, near Goreville. In the early 1980’s, Brad began his working career with the Illinois Department of Corrections. He was employed at Shawnee Correctional Center until his retirement in 2011. Brad retired as a supervisor in the bureau of identification. Brad was an avid sports fan. He was a faithful follower of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team as well as the Vienna Eagles athletic program. Brad supported and encouraged his children and grandchildren by faithfully attending their sports activities and functions. Brad also was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed working in his yard. Brad was a devoted Christian. A service honoring the life of Brad Davis will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, March 14, 2023, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Greg Locke will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening, March 13, 2023, from 5 PM – 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
