Boneta Barnett Age: 85 years A resident of rural Goreville, Illinois. Passed away Monday afternoon, October 18, 2010, at 4:08 PM at Herrin Hospital. Boneta was born December 27, 1924 in Vienna, Illinois. She was the daughter of Olaf O. Jacobsen and Leona (Lasley) Jacobsen. Boneta was united in marriage to Merritt Wayne Barnett on June 14, 1942. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1973. Survivors include: 2 Sons - Billy & Molly Barnett of Goreville, IL Jack & Pam Barnett of Goreville, IL 10 Grandchildren - Paul & Kathy Barnett of Chester, VA Billy Wayne Barnett of Tulsa, OK Mark Barnett of Phoenix, AZ Velma Emery of Suffolk, VA Sonya Leuallen of Peoria, IL Donald Durham of Paducah, KY Stormi & Jason Bailey of Goreville, IL Lisa Barnett of Carterville, IL Tate & Rachel Wright of Marion, IL Ashley Barnett of Goreville, IL Great Grandchildren - Chey & Jake Kierbs of Carterville, IL Billy Merritt, Christian, & Zachary Barnett of Melbourne, FL Savannah Barnett of Troy, IL Michael & Brittany Barnett of Virginia Blake & Bailey Hicks of Carterville, IL Tyler & Haley Leuallen of Peoria, IL Curtis & Nevada Emery of Suffolk, VA Laney Wright of Marion, IL Great-Great Grandchildren - Dylan & Cameron Kierbs of Carterville, IL a Brother - Lowell Louis Jacobsen of Vienna, IL In addition to her Parents and Husband, Boneta was preceded in death by: an Infant Son - Bobbie Barnett 2 Brothers - Herman Jacobsen and Joe Ed Jacobsen Boneta was a graduate of Vienna High School. She was employed for several years as a secretary to the director of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion, IL, prior to her retirement. Boneta was a member of the Goreville First United Methodist Church. She had also been a member of the Eagles Club in Marion, IL. Boneta enjoyed gardening, traveling, dancing, and bowling. She had formerly been a member of a ladies bowling team. Boneta especially cherished the time which she spent with her children and grandchildren. A celebration of the life of Boneta Barnett will be conducted Thursday morning, October 21, 2010, at 10 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Tim Woodard will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 PM - 8 PM Wednesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. The preferred form of remembrance would be donations to the Arthritis Foundation, P.O. Box 7669, Atlanta, GA 30357-0669 or to the Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Road, Marion, IL 62959.
