Bobby R. Penrod

Bobby R. Penrod, age 72 years, a resident of Belknap, Illinois, passed away Wednesday morning, April 10, 2019, at 4:34 AM at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois. Bobby was born October 8, 1946 in the family home near Hound Dog Ridge in Johnson County Illinois. He was the youngest son born to Ray and Vivian (Allen) Penrod. On October 17, 1980, Bobby was united in marriage to Tina M. Cerny at the Belknap Community Church. She survives. In addition to his wife, Bobby is survived by: 3 sons – Robert Penrod of Metropolis, Jeffrey Johnson and Daniel Johnson both of Mississippi; 2 daughters – Brandi Penrod of the Reevesville community and Jozanna (Timothy) Matheny of Belknap; 7 grandsons – Timothy, Daniel, Blake, Joshua, Titus, James and Brock; 9 granddaughters – Jozelyn, Cheyenne, Danielle, Deseree, Tina Jean, Abrianna, Correye, Erinne, and Cheriese; 8 great grandchildren; a sister – Joyce (Doug) Strawhacker of Belknap; 2 brothers – Leon (Mary) Penrod of Buncombe and John Penrod of Belknap; his father-in-law & mother-in-law – Joseph & Chi Cerny of Witt; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by a son – Michael Johnson. Bobby attended Vienna High School. He served during the Vietnam Era from 1968 – 1970 in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Illesheim Germany and served as a medic. Bobby was employed as a laborer and had worked for a number of businesses through the years, including the charcoal kiln at Belknap, Ferguson Aluminum Co. at Olmsted, and Main Brothers Box and Lumber Co. in Karnak. He also worked for Consolidated Grain and Barge Co at Mound City, where he helped unload grain trucks. Bobby was a member of Freedom Outreach Ministries near Vienna. In his spare time, Bobby enjoyed gardening, mowing, and playing with his dog and his grandchildren. A memorial service honoring the life of Bobby Penrod will be held Saturday afternoon, April 20, 2019, at 2 PM at Freedom Outreach Ministries, 5515 IL State Route 146 East, Vienna, Illinois 62995. Pastor Steve Watkins will officiate. Military honors will be accorded. The family will receive friends and relatives from 1:30 PM – 2 PM Saturday afternoon, April 20, 2019, at Freedom Outreach Ministries.
