Henson, age 78 years, a resident of Goreville, Illinois, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 6:40 A.M. at the Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna. Beverly was born October 19, 1945 in Lafayette, Indiana. She was the youngest of three children born to Kenneth E. Bartlett and Verna Belle (Westfall) Bartlett. On September 4, 1970, Beverly was united in marriage to Carroll Henson in Brookston, Indiana. He survives. Beverly is also survived by: her sons – Duane (Kari) Henson of East Carondelet, Illinois and Jason (Jerrah) Henson of Marion; 3 grandchildren – Kassidy Henson, Logan Henson, and Milianah Maryn Henson; a brother – Dale (Judy) Bartlett of Brookston, Indiana; a sister-in-law – Lila Bartlett of Michigan; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by a brother – Harry Bartlett; as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Beverly was a 1963 graduate of the Brookston, Indiana High School. Following her high school graduation, Beverly was employed as a clerical worker in the regional office of State Farm Life Insurance Company in Lafayette, Indiana. She later worked as a secretary in a State Farm Agency office located in Seymour, Indiana. When the family relocated to Southern Illinois, Beverly served for many years as the church secretary at the First United Methodist Church in Goreville. Later, she served as secretary for Eagle House Ministries. Beverly was also the former clerk for the Village of Goreville. Beverly and Carroll enjoyed traveling and wintering in Florida, where they attended the St. Louis Cardinal’s spring training. They were staunch supporters of local sports activities and enjoyed attending sporting events of all kinds. They enjoyed gospel music and annually attended the National Quartet Convention. Beverly and Carroll also cherished time spent at the Bonnie Holiness Camp. Beverly took particular joy in her family and cherished time spent with them. A funeral service honoring the life of Beverly Henson will be conducted Thursday afternoon, December 21, 2023, at 1 P.M. at Reynoldsburg Church, 1065 Reynoldsburg Road, Tunnel Hill, Illinois. Burial will be in the Reynoldsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 11 A.M. – 1 P.M. at Reynoldsburg Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Reynoldsburg Cemetery Fund, c/o Bob Harper, 30 Harper Town Lane, Tunnel Hill, Illinois 62972, the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Illinois Chapter, 805 West DeYoung Street, Suite B, Marion, Illinois 62959 or to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family would like to acknowledge the many friends and neighbors who have so kindly offered assistance, encouragement, and support during Beverly's illness and since her passing. Additionally, a special word of thanks is extended to the staff of Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna. They went above and beyond in providing care for Beverly during her residency.
