Austin Trey Davidson

Austin Trey Davidson, age 30 years, a resident of Anna, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 20, 2024, at 3:03 P.M. at the Union County Hospital in Anna, Illinois. Austin was born on 12/13/1993 to Terry and Gayla (Goins) Davidson in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was the answer to his big sister Emily’s prayers for many years. She was the proudest big sister and one of his dearest friends. He married the love of his life, Madeline (Wingate) Davidson on 11/2/2019. In their short time together, they built a beautiful family and life. They were blessed with the addition of Lawson Archer (18 months) and Cache James (6 weeks). Austin is survived by his wife Maddie Davidson, his two sons Lawson and Cache Davidson; his parents Terry and Gayla Davidson, Jim and Julie Ames; grandparents: Barbara Barlow and Carroll Casey; siblings: Emily and Abe Ingold, Ali and Dakota Hutchison, Amanda Pender, John and Niki Wingate, Sarah and Matt Watkins, Matt Ames; nieces and nephews whom he adored and loved to tease: Connor and Samantha, Isaac, Eli, Ben and Luke Ingold, Violet Hutchison, Hunter Brown, Patty and Warner Wingate, June and Harper Watkins, Scott, Gavin and Ashlynn Ames; 1 great niece: Liliana Berdecia-Ingold; his hunting buddy Crew, his cuddle buddy Abby and his tail-less feline Lucy; and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vernon Davidson, Darlene Davidson, Gary Goins, Linda Casey, Charles “Corky” Barlow, and his labradors Bear and Sadie. Austin was a 2012 graduate of Cobden High School and graduated from SEMO with a Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife Biology. He worked his dream career at the US Forest Service for 7 years, 7 months, and 17 days. During that time, he earned several forest service qualifications: Red Card qualifications, ICT5 (T), ENGB (T), FIRB (T), FAL2. Additional qualifications included USDA certified pesticide applicator. He was also a proud member of the fire crew, aiding with prescribed burns and wildland fires around the country. Austin had a deep love for the outdoors and was passionate about the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois. He was extremely proud of the work that he accomplished on the Shawnee and Ozark-St. Francis National Forest, especially his recent work in Oakwood Bottoms Recreational Area and a project in partnership with the Stinson Memorial Library. Austin was an avid conservationist and hunter. He especially loved hunting waterfowl and turkey. He was an excellent duck and goose caller and enjoyed guiding hunts for Just Lucky Outfitters. A Funeral service honoring Austin's life will be conducted Monday morning, August 26, 2024, at 11 A.M. at the First Baptist Church, 200 South Walker Street, Cobden, Illinois. Pastor Ed Falgout and Brother Kevin Wiley will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 25, 2024, from 3 P.M. until 7 P.M. at the church. There will also be a time of visitation from 10 A.M. until the funeral hour at 11 A.M. Monday also at the church. For those unable to personally attend the funeral service it will be livestreamed via the First Baptist Church – Cobden, Illinois Facebook page. Please note that while the service will be livestreamed it will not be archived on the church’s Facebook page. Memorials may be made to the family for the purpose of establishing an educational fund for Austin's children. Donations may be mailed to Bailey Funeral Home, P.O. The family wants to express their deepest appreciation to the first responders, Union County Ambulance Service, the staff at Union County Hospital, and the US Forest Service staff for their extraordinary care and continuous support. The family requests hunting friends bring their duck calls for a special sendoff following the funeral services. Austin leaves behind a giant hole in the heart of everyone that knew and loved him.
