John A. Kelley Age: 86 years A resident of rural Vienna, Illinois. Passed away Saturday afternoon, May 28, 2011, at 5:05 PM at his home. John was born February 18, 1925 in Union County Illinois. He was the son of Charles and Mary (Mathis) Kelley. John was united in marriage to Dorothy Dunn on November 29, 1947 at the Baptist Church parsonage in Cypress, Illinois. She survives. In addition to his wife, John is survived by: A Daughter - Lana McLaughlin, and her husband Randy, of Boles, IL 4 Grandchildren - Tanya McLaughlin Lance Corporal Conrad McLaughlin Tia McLaughlin Tara McLaughlin A Brother-in-Law - Glenn Dunn of Fairfield, IL 3 Sisters-in-Law - Marjorie Muehlenbein of Vienna, IL Lucille Bunch of Metropolis, IL Louise Kelley of Anna, IL Several Nieces and Nephews In addition to his Parents, John was preceded in death by: 5 Brothers - Walter, George, Arthur, Ralph, & Luther Kelley 5 Sisters - Esther, Nellie, & Mary Ruth Kelley, Eunice Osman, and Gladys Niblock John was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was employed in the construction industry in Elgin, Illinois as a Heavy Equipment Operator prior to his retirement. John was a member of Stone Arch Masonic Lodge # 953 AF&AM. John was also a faithful and devoted member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Vienna where he served as Deacon Emeritus. He had previously taught an adult Sunday School class, served as Sunday School superintendent and Nursery director. John loved children and will long be remembered by his church family as "the sucker man" because he always gave candy sucker treats to the children after church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning, June 1, 2011, at 11 AM at Fellowship Baptist Church in Vienna. Pastor Russ Kreuter will officiate and Rev. Jerry Day will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post # 5222 and the Illinois National Guard Burial Honors Detail. Visitation will be from 6 PM - 8 PM Tuesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna and from 10 AM - 11 AM Wednesday at the church.
