At the time of her passing, Elsie was the oldest resident of Johnson County Illinois. Elsie was born December 23, 1915 in the Diswood community in Alexander County Illinois. She was the eldest of six children born to John and Alta Mae (Miller) Butler. Elsie was united in marriage to William Floyd Anderson. He preceded her in death on February 1, 1966. She is survived by: her daughters – Judy Woehrl of Goreville, Illinois and Jean King of Cypress, Illinois; a daughter-in-law – Vickie Anderson of Vienna, Illinois; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren & great-great grandchildren; and a sister – Clara (her husband, Gaylon) Cates of Cobden, Illinois. In addition to her parents and husband, Elsie was preceded in death by: a son – Billie E. Anderson; her sons-in-law – Larry King and Hartmut ‘Fred’ Woehrl; and her brothers – Elmer, Johnny, Ernest and Bub Butler Elsie had worked as an in-home care provider and also as a waitress in a restaurant in Anna for a time. Elsie was a member of the Busby Chapel Freewill Baptist Church south of Goreville, where she was always blessed by the worship and music services. Elsie also volunteered for several years with a ladies group in Goreville preparing mailers of church newsletters and bulletins. She enjoyed the fellowship that this ministry outreach provided. A funeral service honoring the life of Elsie Anderson will be held Wednesday morning, April 24, 2024, at 10 A.M. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Brent Schuetz and Pastor Kenneth Blumenstock will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John’s Cemetery near Dongola. Visitation will be conducted Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 5 P.M. – 8 P.M. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Memorials may be made to Busby Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, P.O.
