James W. “Jim” Howell
Age: 78 years
A resident of rural Vienna and a former resident of Lockport, Illinois.

Passed away Sunday morning, March 7, 2010, at 5:09 AM at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Jim was born November 30, 1931 in Vienna, IL. He was the son of Claude Howell & Vinncie (Bullock) Howell.

Jim was united in marriage to Margaret L. (Welsh) in 1955 in Crown Point, Indiana. She survives.

a Son – Donald James Howell of Plainfield, IL
a Daughter – Bonna M. Lilly & Sven Bodell of Plainfield, IL
2 Grandchildren – Lauren M. Lilly of California
Ryan P. Lilly of Chicago, IL
a Sister – Betty Lingle, and her husband Wayne, of Anna, IL
a Brother – Lloyd E. Howell of the Lick Creek community in Union Co. IL
a Sister-in-Law – Janet Howell of Wichita, KS
Nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and hunting friends

In addition to his Parents, Jim was preceded in death by:

2 Brothers – David Howell and Charles D. “Snooky” Howell
a Sister-in-Law – Cheryl Howell

Jim was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Beggs-Gurley VFW Post # 5222 in Vienna.

Jim was employed as a millwright for 33 years by General Motors at the Fisher Body Assembly Plant in Willow Springs, Illinois.

Jim enjoyed horses and was a former member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, farming, & cattle raising.

Jim was a member of the First Congregational Church in Lockport, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Mark Roath will officiate.

Burial will be in Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post 5222 and the Illinois Burial Honors Detail.

Friends may call from 4 PM – 8 PM Tuesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
