Bailey Funeral Home was founded September 12, 1997. On that date, Brian & Julie Bailey purchased the business (formerly Aly Funeral Home) from Ralph & Mary Catherine Aly. The Aly family had constructed & occupied the facility, located at
705 North First Street, Vienna, Illinois in 1976. The funeral home was initially managed by R. Douglas Aly, son of Ralph & Mary Catherine Aly. Following Doug’s tragic death in an automobile accident in 1983, the day-to-day management of the facility passed to Charles “Chuck” Aly, a position he held until 1997, when the business was sold to the Bailey family. Chuck, & Mark Aly continue to operate funeral homes in Eddyville & Golconda, Illinois. Ralph Aly passed away January 6, 2004. Since acquiring the funeral home in September 1997, Brian, Julie & their staff have made a number of improvements, including expanding the chapel to better accommodate large visitations & funeral services. The chapel may now also be divided into two smaller rooms to simultaneously accommodate two families. The coffee lounge and office have been completely redecorated, and new carpet, paint, wallpaper, furnishings & decorations have improved the appearance in every room. The Bailey’s strive for a comfortable, homelike atmosphere in all of their remodeling projects.
Outdoors improvements have also been made. The parking lot has been paved and a second parking lot, capable of accommodating an additional 60 vehicles, has been added. Combined, the two lots accommodate over 125 vehicles. Also, ongoing landscape projects highlight local seasonal flowers and attractive shrubbery.
The Bailey Funeral Homes carries on a rich tradition of service to the families of Johnson County & the surrounding area. |
